THE SHADOW STRIKER: 2001 YAMAHA PACIFICA 012
Born in 2001 at the highly-regarded YMMI factory in Indonesia, this black-on-black Yamaha Pacifica 012 is a masterclass in bulletproof, workhorse engineering. Weighing in at a highly resonant 3.72 Kg (8.2 lbs), the Alder body and fast Modern C Maple neck feel instantly substantial and familiar in the hands. It features an upgraded, brand-new black pickguard for a sleek, blacked-out aesthetic (with the original included in the case).
Despite a few cosmetic light scratches on the lower body and edges, the playing surface is functionally perfect following a pro-level workshop restoration. We performed a comprehensive fret level, crown, and polish, completely eliminating factory high spots and sharp ends to give it a boutique-level playing feel.
What Makes This Guitar Special
This HSS configuration packs serious, undeniable punch. Powered by Original Alpha 500kΩ pots (dated Jan 2001), the 9.23 kΩ bridge humbucker delivers a notably dark, muscular bite that drives amps beautifully. This is perfectly balanced by the 5.61 kΩ middle and 5.33 kΩ neck single coils, which retain a thick, warm resonance. The guitar has been freshly set up with Ernie Ball Regular strings, and the vintage 6-screw tremolo bridge has been meticulously levelled to accommodate the new tension perfectly.
Sonic Profile: The darker pickup voicings and potent humbucker make this an absolute weapon for heavy 90s grunge and alt-rock (think Soundgarden or Nirvana), while the single coils easily dial back for moody, atmospheric indie cleans.
