The Biography of a 90s Icon
Born in 1997 at the renowned Yako Factory in China, this Squier Musicmaster Vistatone is a prime example of the highly sought-after Vista Series. Constructed with a resonant basswood body, a maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard, it features a striking Olympic White finish that has beautifully aged to a vintage cream, completed by a matching painted headstock. Weighing in at a lightweight 3.18 Kg (7.01 lbs) with a comfortable Medium C neck profile , it feels incredibly nimble, balanced, and instantly inviting in the hands.
What Makes This Guitar Special
The true magic of this instrument lies in its stripped-back, high-octane simplicity.
- A Sonic Powerhouse: Armed with a single original bridge pickup pushing a robust 11.55 kΩ DC resistance and an inductance of 4.83 H, this Musicmaster delivers a thick, mid-forward punch that hits far above its weight class.
- Articulate Highs: The resonant peak at 2.17 kHz ensures the top-end remains clear and cutting, but never harsh.
- Genre Ready: It is an absolute workhorse for garage rock, grunge, and alternative indie—perfect for capturing the raw, driving tones reminiscent of artists like Nirvana, Blur, or The Strokes.
Honest Character, Flawless Playability
In a world where players pay top dollar for artificial aging, this Musicmaster boasts the real deal. We believe in total transparency: this guitar has been played, loved, and earned its stripes. The Olympic White finish features a collection of authentic finish chips along the sides and back—including about six smaller marks and one larger (~20mm) chip on the rear—alongside light, age-appropriate scuffs on the neck and headstock. The hardware perfectly matches this vibe with a beautiful, light age-related patina.
But while the chassis wears its history proudly, the playing surface is functionally brand-new. Thanks to a precision fret level, crown, and polish, this instrument plays flawlessly without choking or buzzing. The 24.75" scale length and 9.5" radius fretboard have been fully hydrated and optimized to mechanical perfection, freshly strung and set up with Ernie Ball Regular strings.
